CADENCE
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
Cadence (« the app ») is a reading and text-to-speech app. This policy explains what data we process and why. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service, and we never sell your personal data.
Information we process
- Account: your email address, used only to sign you in (passwordless code) and to sync your library across devices.
- Your library & reading data: the books you import, reading/listening position, bookmarks, highlights, notes, settings, and listening statistics — stored so your experience syncs between your devices.
- Text-to-speech: the text of the passage being read is sent to our speech provider (Microsoft Azure Speech) to generate the audio. It is used only to produce the audio and is not used to identify you.
- AI features (summaries, quizzes, questions, character casting): the relevant book text is sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter) solely to generate the requested result.
- Diagnostics: basic, non-identifying technical logs to keep the service reliable.
Subscriptions & payments
Purchases and subscriptions (Cadence Pro) are handled by Apple through your App Store account. We do not receive or store your payment details. See our Terms of Use.
Sharing
We share data only with the processors needed to run the app (speech synthesis, AI generation, hosting and database). We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Retention & your rights
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can request access to or deletion of your data at any time by emailing us. Deleting your account removes your library and reading data.
Children
Cadence is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
